TUI sorry after British holidaymakers arrived in Florida without luggage

Travel agency TUI apologized after the passengers arrived in Florida – only to find their bags were over 4,000 miles away in Newcastle. When holidaymakers arrived at Melbourne Orlando International Airport yesterday (9 May), they were told their bags had not been loaded onto the plane at Newcastle International Airport.

Some passengers have complained of being left without medicine, clothes, strollers, diapers and formula as a result of the error. A passenger said he arrived in Florida excited about his vacation – then heard a loudspeaker announcement telling people the “majority” of luggage had not been loaded on the plane.

She claimed the flight was delayed in Newcastle due to “suitcase setting up”, which added to her frustration, Chronicle Live reports. Another passenger said he was still awaiting an explanation this morning (April 10) on how the mistake happened – and described the situation as “absolutely shocking”.

TUI has now apologized for the error. The company confirmed that it is working with the airport and its handling agent to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

A TUI spokesperson said: “We would like to apologize to customers whose baggage was delayed on flight TOM858 from Newcastle to Florida. We are working with the airport and our handling agent to resolve this issue as soon as possible. quickly as possible, but we understand how frustrating this is and we’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
