Swans re-sign exciting young AFL trio | Campbelltown-Macarthur Advertiser
Gun utility Nick Blakey has joined James Rowbottom and Chad Warner in signing contract extensions with Sydney following the start of the AFL season for the Swans.
The exciting young trio are locked up after Sydney left unbeaten in three rounds last week winning the scalp of champions Richmond.
Blakey has been a revelation in his 40 games, scoring 40 goals since joining Swans Academy and being selected No. 10 in the 2018 AFL Draft.
The 21-year-old said he was excited about the current squad and happy to sign for another three years.
“To be hired for a few more years is really exciting,” said Blakey.
“The first few laps were fun with the young boys playing key roles and the older guys showing us the way.
Rowbottom is also committed until the end of 2024 while Warner is committed until the end of 2023.
Midfielder Rowbottom, who was selected 25 in the same draft as Blakey, has impressed in his 29 games so far but has been sidelined since the first round with a knee injury.
“We take it all in our stride, week after week we have done a good job and (after missing the last two games with an injury) I can’t wait to go back myself”, 20 said old Rowbottom.
Warner, 19, has appeared in five games, with the midfielder named the AFL’s latest Rising Star contender.
