Lufthansa Technik expands maintenance facilities in the Philippines

LONDON – On August 24, Lufthansa Technik Philippines unveiled its newly expanded hangar, which will complement the existing seven lines of maintenance services with three additional lines. The German group has announced a 20% capacity increase, which will greatly contribute to the local economy, with the employment of 275 additional people.

The parking spaces are intended to increase the facility’s capabilities to serve more aircraft. Initially, the new hangar can be rearranged to provide space for four narrow-body aircraft, or one wide-body aircraft and two narrow-body aircraft. Additionally, Airbus’ largest aircraft, the Airbus A380, can also be served at the new facility.

The latest state-of-the-art facility contains 9,000 square meters of hangar space which was due to open in September 2020 but has been sidelined so far due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
