Start of holiday in Hesse: 76,000 people go on holiday with Lufthansa from Frankfurt airport on the first holiday weekend. With 192 destinations, the airline offers even more destinations for flights from Frankfurt than in summer 2019 and, with more than 1,800 weekly connections, 55% of connections since pre-Corona times, with a trend on the rise. At the same time, many states continue to require additional documents such as tests or vaccination certificates. For this reason, Lufthansa recommends that its passengers inform themselves in advance and arrive at the airport on time.

Those worried about not having the correct travel certificates can have them checked by a Lufthansa service center on some flights up to 72 hours before departure. These may include proof of testing, survival from COVID-19 disease, and vaccinations. Confirmations of digital entry requests can also be verified. This ensures in advance that the required documents are available. Lufthansa recommends that its customers continue to take the original printed certificates with them during the trip, in addition to the digital proof.

The necessary documents and the locations where COVID-19 tests can also be performed for the return trip are available on the Lufthansa website. For return trips to Germany, antigen self-tests using the video identification procedure are now also accepted and can also be purchased online.

For a relaxed journey, Lufthansa recommends using the wide range of online services for check-in and baggage check-in. At Frankfurt Airport, passengers can check their baggage free of charge at the existing drive-thru service until the end of the holiday. This is conveniently possible from 23 to two hours before departure, if necessary also directly combined with a driving COVID test.
