Latest Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, TUI and British Airways hand luggage rules
After the pandemic caused many vacations to be canceled for people across the country, many of us can’t wait to hop on a plane to some exotic location.
However, the latest airline baggage information has been released and it is important that you know exactly what to pack before you start packing. Holidaymakers can be hit with a hefty fine if they break weight limits, size restrictions and hand luggage rules.
So, to help you avoid excessive checked baggage fees, we’ve compiled a list of all the information you need to know. This is the latest cabin baggage information for Ryanair, EasyJet, TUI, BA and Jet2, the Liverpool Echo reports.

Ryanair cabin baggage size
All passenger fare types include a small personal bag, which must fit under the seat in front of you. The small personal bag must measure a maximum of 40x20x25cm.
Oversized cabin baggage will be refused at the boarding gate or, where applicable, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee of €/£69.99. Ryanair recommends checking in at the Bag Drop counter before security if you are unsure if your bag is the correct size.
easyJet cabin baggage size
All customers may bring a small carry-on bag on board. This should be a maximum size of 45x36x20cm including handles or wheels.
It includes items like a small wheeled suitcase, handbag, backpack, and laptop bag, but they must fit under the seat in front of you. There is a maximum weight limit of 15kg as you must be able to lift and carry the bag yourself.
easyJet said: “If your hand luggage is larger than the maximum size allowed or if you bring large hand luggage to the gate without the correct seat selection or pre-booking for your flight, it will not will not be able to go in the cabin, we will have to check them in the hold of the aircraft and charges will apply.
Size of the TUI cabin bag
If you take a TUI Airways flight, you can carry one item of hand luggage up to 10 kg free of charge.
The maximum dimensions of your hand luggage can be 55 x 40 x 20 cm and you must be able to lift your hand luggage into the overhead storage compartments yourself. If your baggage is heavier than your baggage allowance when you check in for a TUI Airways flight, you will have to pay an excess baggage charge.
Excess baggage charges:
- Short-haul flights: £13 or €17 per kilogram.
- Medium-haul flights: £15 or €19 per kilogram.
- Long-haul flights: £18 or $27 per kilogram.
British Airways cabin baggage size
All British Airways passengers are permitted to carry one carry-on bag and one small item on board.
Hand luggage must not exceed 56x45x25cm and small item must not exceed 40x30x15cm. Both items can weigh up to 23 kg each. If any of your carry-on baggage exceeds the size or weight limit, or if you have more carry-on baggage than your allowance, you will need to check it in and it will count towards your checked baggage allowance.
If this causes you to exceed your free checked baggage allowance, or if you are traveling at the hand baggage only (Basic) fare, you will be charged for the additional baggage at the airport rate.
Jet2 cabin bag size
You can carry one piece of hand luggage on board for free with Jet2, as long as it does not weigh more than 10 kg and does not exceed 56x45x25cm, wheels and handles included.
If your hand luggage weighs more or is larger than this, it will need to be checked into the hold of the aircraft and you may have to pay an additional fee.
