Eurowings will fly to Germany from SLC
SALT LAKE CITY – The German airline Eurowings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, will fly from Salt Lake City to Frankfurt, Germany, three times a week from next May. The announcement delighted Salt Lake City Airport Manager Bill Wyatt, who said the expansion of international service was what they were hoping for with the new airport.
“We ran out of space. We couldn’t accommodate a single new carrier, ”Wyatt told KSL NewsRadio. “We now have these wonderful new international gates and arrival facilities, and I think that’s just the start.”
SLC to Germany via Eurowings
Eurowings is a low-cost airline specializing in leisure travel.
Before the pandemic, Delta Airlines offered service from Salt Lake City to London, Paris and Amsterdam. These flights have been halted due to the pandemic, although Delta plans to resume service to Amsterdam from May 27. Going forward, Wyatt says they hope to add flights to Asia and possibly Latin America as well.
At present, Salt Lake City’s only international service has been flights to the resorts of Mexico City and Mexico City, as well as a few flights to Canada.
“By next year, when Eurowings is scheduled in May, I think we’ll see the full range of services and more,” said Wyatt.
Eurowings also plans to offer flights from Las Vegas to Germany. McCarran International Airport will see two flights per week to Frankfurt.
