Eurowings and ver.di trade union agree on outlook for Lufthansa group flight attendants
On February 4, 2021, following constructive collective bargaining, Eurowings and the Vereinte Dienstleistungsgewerkschaft (ver.di) reached an agreement that offers Lufthansa Group flight attendants threatened with layoffs career opportunities at Eurowings. As a first step, Eurowings plans to hire up to 130 new employees at the start of the 2021 summer flight schedule, with further hires to follow as demand for air travel on Eurowings’ routes network increases. this again possible.
The collective agreement provides that new flight attendants who join the company from other Group flight operations receive financial recognition for their previous professional experience within the Lufthansa group. Thus, a candidate with, for example, 8 years of professional experience in the Group will in the future be remunerated as if the career path had taken place at Eurowings. In addition, the trial period will be eliminated and other obstacles in the hiring process will be removed. New employees will be hired full time or part time at the request of candidates. The collective agreement concluded runs until June 30, 2022 and will therefore also govern subsequent hires.

Tourist air traffic, in which Eurowings specializes as the largest holiday airline in Germany, will recover faster than other segments.
